Hugh F. Kayser, of Garland, passed away November 27, 2003. Born in Traverse City, Michigan to Williard and Mary Ann Tansey Kayser, he was a 1944 Graduate of Central High School, South Bend Indiana, where he achieved the honor of becoming City Champion in Pole Vaulting. After serving his country in WWII and the Korean Conflict, he graduated from Southern Methodist University with an MBA. He spent over 35 years in the automotive business, managing several Firestone and Goodyear Stores, and managing the Tire Department at Sewell Village Cadillac. Hugh was the author of two books: "The Complete Book of Boxing." co-authored with Curtis Cokes, and "The Spirit of America," a compilation of biographies of 40 Medal of Honor recipients. His research papers from this book will be donated to the Medal of Honor Society achives located aboard the USS Yorktown in Mt.Pleasant, SC. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Nancy Winters Kayser; sister Mary Bodle,W.Lafayette, IN; three daughters and spouses, Diane and Carl Herrmann, Rowlett, Tx: Susan Barnes, Garland; Kathleen and Kenneth Hunter of Garland, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2003 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Restland Funeral Home. This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Hugh Kayser who was born in Michigan on November 20, 1926 and passed away on November 27, 2003 at the age of 77. We will remember him forever.
